After the birth of our first child Charlotte, during the drought in 2019, we had several extra mouths to feed including 12 poddy (orphaned) calves when their mothers died. 

Things were going from bad to worse and supplement feeding so many calves was financially debilitating. I began thinking of ways that I could create an income to assist in paying for the calf milk powder and pellets while being a stay at home Mum with a newborn.

Hence Derry Downs Handmade, named after our family property and where all our items are sewn.

We use and create beautiful essential items for every new Mum using only the best quality fabrics in gorgeous Australiana designs and coordinating patterns.
