Vanilla Creamed Rice Pudding

Serves 4-6

Cooking Time: 1 -1.5 hours



  • 2 cups of white long grain rice
  • 1 x can condensed milk  water
  • vanilla paste/ extract (optional, but desirable)
  • milk (approx 500ml)


Preheat oven to 180C

Pour rice into an oven safe dish (approx 30 x 20cm), the rice should cover the base and be about 10mm deep.

Pour can of condensed milk over the rice, fill empty can with fresh water and add to rice 3 times. Add 1.5 tsp vanilla bean paste or extract to taste.

Mix until well combined.

Cover with foil and put in oven, check every 15 minutes or so, stirring gently and fighting over the skin that forms as it cooks.

As rice is cooking, to up dish with milk if required so it doesn't cook dry.

Once the rice has cooked, dessert is ready.

Top with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream and serve.
